Obituary

I t is with great regret that we announce that, on 7/9/2023, Sylvester (Sy) Martin Miller has passed. Sy was born on November 10, 1929 at his family farm in Hope, MN. After 8 th  grade, he worked passionately in many jobs, including the National Guard, Owatonna Tool Company, and Miller’s Sharpening Services. One of Sy’s great passions was polka music. He met his wife, Marjean Miller, at a dance and they didn’t stop dancing or playing music for 65 years . Together they raised their 2 children, Frank and Beverly, with the belief that you should always be honest, listen, and show respect. Their lessons were shared with his sister Veronica, his 4 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In leu of a donation, we ask that those reading this put extra effort to be more honest, listen, and show respect to others this week. Sy will be remembered for his morals, always having a sense of humor, sharing his table with friends and family, and for his everlasting love. A m...

WHERE/WHEN WERE YOU BORN? I was born in the farm house that my parents lived in, in Hope, MN. I was born November 10, 1929. WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE THING TO DO FOR FUN WHEN GROWING UP? As a very young boy I loved playing in the dirt and making mud pies. An older brother and a younger sister also made mud pies with me and the we'd just throw them away. I played a snare drum and my dad played a violin in the dining room. We played polka's and waltz's together. Their was a river that ran through the pasture of my parents farm.
